The State Capitol building was built in 1912 under a cloud of corruption and embezzlement, as the territorial government planned on stealing a large portion of the money, and construct a 'cut-rate' structure. Today, visitors to the historic building can see the famous 25 foot painting by Charles Russell 'Lewis and Clark Meeting Indians at Ross' Hole,' and mysterious 'Goddess of Liberty' that adorns the roof. The capitol is located in the heart of the city, a few blocks south of the Capitol Hill Mall.
